About us

We are Lona

We do not turn a blind eye to modern slavery Through numerous personal encounters in the red-light district, we have seen how many people are affected by human trafficking and injustice. This moved us to take action. Lona Project was born

With the Lona Project, we focus on prevention, awareness and multiplication. By educating people, we help protect them from human trafficking. We aim to encourage individuals to take responsibility and stand up for those affected.

We support people regardless of their ethnic, cultural or religious background.

Lona Project is an initiative of Agape International. Agape International is an independent, non-denominational, and politically neutral organization.

Prevention

Education is the key to ending human trafficking. That is why we promote education and provide training materials to prevent human trafficking and related issues. Our focus is on young people, as they are particularly vulnerable to becoming victims of human trafficking.

Raising awareness

Human trafficking is a taboo topic. We break the silence to drive change. We engage in areas where danger is present. In local communities, such as in Eastern Europe, we organize workshops and informational events. We raise awareness through campaigns, including on social media.

Multiplication

We want more and more people to shed light on this topic. We support local initiatives, provide specialized training, and accompany individuals in their own projects. These range from prevention work and awareness-raising to supporting and assisting victims of human trafficking. Together, we shine brighter.

Why Lona?

The name Lona is short for Ilona and means “the radiant, the shining” in Slavic and Hungarian languages. And that’s exactly what we stand for.

We shed light on people and places that would otherwise remain hidden. We look at where injustices happen. We want people to live a life of freedom and rediscover hope—so they can shine.

Lona represents a person like you and me, ready to shine into the darkness and bring hope. Shine against human trafficking—Be a Lona!

Together for hope & freedom

We believe there is hope. For new perspectives and greater opportunities. People should be able to shape their own lives. That is freedom.
