«I had been thinking for a long time about incorporating topics such as abuse and setting boundaries into my lessons. That’s why I’m very grateful to have received this material from Lona Project! Thank you for making it available in our language.»
I was touched by a quote from a high school teacher in Hungary. Since being translated into Hungarian, the prevention program has already been implemented in various settings. Most recently in a children’s home in Budapest. The young people talked together about healthy relationships. In a group exercise, they worked out positive and negative character traits in a relationship and, based on this, determined for themselves which of these were relevant to them and which were not up for discussion. Another topic in this module is the “loverboy.” A so-called “loverboy” is a man who pretends to be deeply in love with a woman, but in doing so makes her dependent on him and gradually introduces her to prostitution. Unfortunately, this phenomenon is a major problem, especially in Eastern Europe.
The prevention program aims to strengthen women’s self-esteem and self-confidence. We all long for love and recognition. But not at any price.
